In his 33+ years at the Bar, Fred Gleaton's civil litigation practice has included cases involving products liability, physician and attorney professional liability, property and premises liability, commercial matters, and general personal injury defense. For the past twenty-five years, Mr. Gleaton has been principally involved in the defense of physicians and medical care providers in medical liability cases. In 2008, Mr. Gleaton was among the first ten lawyers in Georgia to be certified by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He has been elected as an Advocate by the American Board of Trial Advocates, and he has been named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. Mr. Gleaton is an active member of the Defense Research Institute and the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, and has been recognized as one of Georgia's Super Lawyers, 2007-2009.
A native south Georgian, born in Warwick, Georgia, Mr. Gleaton received his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of Georgia (A.B., 1973), where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. His law degree was conferred by the University of Virginia Law School (J.D., 1976), where he was a member of the Editorial Board of the Virginia Journal of International Law. Mr. Gleaton has lectured on civil procedure and professional liability topics.
